Redcar Hydrogen Community Fund boosted by British Gas
Our 2023 Community Fund for Redcar-based community groups has been boosted by an extra £20,000 of funding from British Gas.
British Gas is supporting our proposal to convert parts of Redcar from natural gas to hydrogen and has added to the fund to provide grants to projects, which will benefit the local community.
The total pot now available is £40,000, and organisations can bid for grants of between £500 and £5,000 up to Friday 6th October.
Tim Green, British Gas Head of Hydrogen Customer Experience, “We’re proud to contribute to the Northern Gas Networks Redcar Hydrogen Community Fund. We believe in supporting the communities in which we operate, and this fund will make a positive impact in the Redcar area. The increase in funding from British Gas will mean more support for local projects, more local initiatives for the community, and more local people benefitting. We’re looking forward to seeing the exciting projects submitted for consideration in the coming weeks.”
To be eligible for the funding, organisations must address any of the following issues:
- Offering advice services for people struggling with finances, homelessness or unemployment;
- Addressing a local social issue;
- Improving the local environment or community spaces;
- Offering support to those with physical impairments or mental health conditions;
- Providing education and training.
The projects must be able to prove their benefits to Warrenby, Coatham and Kirkleatham but can also be for the wider Redcar area.
